The Mitsubishi FTO, is a front engined, front-wheel drive coupe produced by Mitsubishi Motors between 1994 and 2000. FTO stands for "Fresh Touring Origination". The name recalls the Galant FTO coupé of 1971, one of the company’s first sports cars. The 6A1 engine mounted in the FTO is basically the same as the 6A12-DOHC-MIVEC engine mounted on the 1997 Galant. A well-balanced output characteristic is exerted in all operation regions with the variable valve mechanism (MIVEC)
