The Toyota W58 Transmission system is part of the Toyota W transmission series which is a family of RWD/4WD transmissions built by Aisin (is a benchmarking specialist develops and produces components and systems for the automotive industry). The W transmission series include W40, W42, W45, W50, W51, W52, W55, W56, W57, W58 and W59. 

The following repair and service manual only covers the Toyota W58 Transmission series. Here you will find detail description of W58 operation, preparation for special service tools and service materials, troubleshooting, assembly/removal and installation procedures, component parts removal, output shaft components, counter gear and reverse idler gear, bearing replacement, extension housing components, service specification/data, and torque specification.

Please note that when replacing either a synchronizer ring or gear, apply a small amount of fine lapping compound between the synchronizer ring and gear cone.
Lightly rub the synchronizer ring and gear cone together.
