Sony Ericsson XPERIA Ray Specs and Features

Xperia Ray is an Android Smartphone introduced by Sony Ericsson which uses Android Operating System version 2.3 aka Android Gingerbread. It looks so attractive with its slim and sleek design. It has a large touchscreen (3.3 inches) with 854 x 480 pixels (WVGA) and reality display by Mobile BRAVIA® Engine.  For the hardware it uses 1GHz Scorpion MSM8255 Snapdragon chipset CPU with Adrno 205 GPU. The 512MB RAM also included. Internal phone storage is available up to 300MB and microSD for external memory up to 32GB with 4GB included in the box.

TrackID music recognition, music with Bluetooth™ stereo (A2DP), FM Radio and Digital compass are available. You can also find Accelerometer Sensor and Proximity Sensor for Auto Orientation rotation and save power by turning the screen off automatically while calling, multi touch input method, Timescape User Interface and Scratch Resistant display.

Setting Up Sony Ericsson XPERIA Ray (page 9 of the manual)

The setup guide covers the following:

  • Basic phone settings such as language and internet.
  • Wi-Fi settings – speed up your connection and decrease data transfer costs.
  • Online service settings – helps you with email setup, online service accounts and contact transfers.

If you prefer, you can skip some steps and access the setup guide later from the Application screen or change the settings from the Settings menu. To access the setup guide:

  • From the Home screen, tap image
  • Find and tap Setup guide.

Sony Ericsson XPERIA Ray Factory Reset (page 113 of the manual)

You can reset your phone to its original settings, with or without deleting all of your personal data. It is possible to reset the phone to the state it was in before you first turned it on. But before you perform a reset, make sure to back up any important data saved on your phone.

To reset the phone:

  • From you home screen, tap image
  • Find and tap Settings > Privacy
  • Tap Factory data reset.
  • To erase not only internal storage but also other user data such as pictures and music, mark the Erase SD card checkbox.
  • Tap Reset phone.
  • To confirm, tap Erase everything.

My phone is not working as expected

If you experience problems with your phone, check these tips before you try anything else:

  • Restart your phone.
  • Remove and re-insert the battery and SIM card. Then restart your phone.
  • Update your phone. Updating your phone ensures optimal performance and provides the latest enhancements. See Updating your phone on page 106 for more information.
  • Reset your phone.

I cannot charge the phone

The charger is not properly connected or the battery connection is poor. Remove the battery and clean the connections.

I cannot transfer content between my phone and the computer, when using a USB cable

The software or the USB drivers have not been properly installed. Go to www.sonyericsson.com/support for more detailed installation instructions and troubleshooting sections.

I cannot use Internet-based services

Make sure your subscription covers data downloads and that the internet settings in your phone are correct. See Internet and messaging settings on page 27 for more information on how to enable data traffic, data roaming and download Internet settings. Contact your network operator for more information about your subscription settings.

SIM  card is locked

You have entered your PIN incorrectly 3 times in a row. To un;ock the phone, you need the PUK provided by your operator.

SIM  card is PUK-locked

You have entered your PUK (Personal Unblocking Key) incorrectly 10 times in a row. Please contact your service provider.
