The Toyota Tercel is a subcompact car manufactured by Toyota from 1978 to 1999 across five generations. It was the first front-wheel drive vehicle ever produced by the automaker. The Tercel’s front-wheel drive design ensured that the vehicle delivered maximum interior space in a small package. The 1996 Toyota Tercel is driven by a DOHC 1.5 L I4 engine generating 93 hp (69 kW) power and 100 lb·ft (140 N·m) of torque. Standard models equipped with only a 4 speed manual or automatic transmission, while DX models were offered with either a 5 speed manual or 4-speed automatic transmission.
