The Mazda RX-2 was a midsize car introduced in 1970 and sold through 1978. It used a rotary engine and shared a chassis with the piston-engined Mazda Capella/616/618. While Mazda RX-3 was intended to be smaller and sportier than its brother, the RX-2/Capella Rotary. It was available from September, 1971 through 1978 in coupé, sedan, and station wagon forms.
This workshop and repair manual provides service information for Mazda RX-2 and Mazda RX-3 from 1971 through 1977. The RX-2 and RX-3 are equipped with a 2-rotor Wankerl Rotary Engine. Total rotor displacement is 70 cu.in (1146cc). Although the same engine is used in both cars, the RX-2 uses less restrictive exhaust system, thus has more horsepower.
This manual is divided into chapters. Chapter One provides general information and specification. Chapter Two explains all periodic lubrication and routine maintenance necessary to keep your car running well. Chapter Two also includes recommended tune-up procedures. Chapter Three provides methods and suggestions for quick and accurate diagnosis and repair of problems, it also discuss equipment useful both for preventive maintenance and troubleshooting. Subsequent chapters describe specific systems such as the engine, transmission and electrical system. Each chapter provides complete disassembly, repair and assembly procedures in a step-by-step form.
